Introduction. Nowadays, mental health disorders have been increasing over the years, and anxiety disorders are one of the most frequent diagnoses in consultation. Objective. We aimed to analyze the prevalence of neurotic disorders, as described in ICD-10 categories F40-49, in the cities of Macará and Huaquillas (Ecuador) between 2018 and 2020. Method. Descriptive and retrospective non-experimental quantitative methodology. For this purpose, clinical and so- ciodemographic information was collected from 428 patients, through the database named: Automated daily record of consultations and outpatient care RDACAA. Results. Statistical analyses showed differences in the prevalence of neurotic disorders in terms of sex. Adolescents were more likely to be diagnosed with anxiety disorders. Conclusions. Adolescent females were more likely to be diagnosed with severe stress and adjustment disorders and females were more likely to present a diagnosis within the subcategory Severe Stress Reactions and Adjustment Disorders.
