Abstract

Introduction: To determine the sports habits, injuries and consumption of alcohol, tobacco and marijuana in amateur Skateboarding athletes. Method: The type of design was retrospective cross-sectional descriptive in a population of 68 athletes from the city of Bogotá. The CHDHL Sports Habits and Injury History Questionnaire was used along with an adapted version of the ESTUDES questionnaire. Results: It was found that the Goofy style is the most used for both the Stance and the push, a greater proportion of subjects have between 1 to 5 years of practice, with a frequency between 1 to 4 days and varied duration of the training session. practice. The 84% warm up prior to the session, the 59% cool down and most of them do not parti- cipate in competitions. The 87% have suffered a sports injury, the 72% during the last year, mainly affecting the lower extremities with little participation in physical rehabilitation programs (29%). Moderate tobacco consumption was found, but high consumption of alcohol and marijuana, the latter being associated with the presence of injuries (p= 0.025; OR= 2.186; 95% CI= 0.039 to 6.048). Conclusions: It is essential to develop action plans at the level of public policies that allow professional accompani- ment in the different Skateparks, in sports training programs, prevention of injuries and consumption of substances that can negatively affect the health of the athletes
