Cannabis use from the scientific evidence: the danger of trivialising use and the risks of possible legalisation or regularisation

The conclusions and reflections drawn from the II International Congress on Cannabis and its derivatives: health, education and law are presented. The 27 papers were presented by renowned professionals and researchers. The speakers expressed their concern about the trivialisation of cannabis use among the population in general and among adolescents and young people in particular. They highlighted the damage caused by consumption both in terms of physical health and possible psychiatric damage. They emphasised that there is no such thing as therapeutic cannabis use, nor is there such a thing as risk-free recreational use; there is medicinal use of some cannabinoids to alleviate the symptoms of four illnesses, and consuming cannabis (in any of its variants) always entails a risk, even if it is consumed in places or situations of leisure and fun.
