Relación entre la disponibilidad de alcohol, consumo de alcohol y problemas en jóvenes argentinos

La disponibilidad objetiva de alcohol (DO) se asocia al incremento del consumo de alcohol y problemas asociados. Variables cognitivas (p.ej., disponibilidad percibida de alcohol [DP]) también se relacionan con un mayor consumo. Objetivos. Se analizó la relación entre DO y DP con el consumo de alcohol, consecuencias negativas, la compra de bebidas alcohólicas y dinero gastado en alcohol dentro y fuera del área de residencia. Métodos. Participaron 356 jóvenes universitarios/as de 18 a 30 años residentes en la ciudad de Córdoba (Argentina) que completaron una encuesta online durante el año 2015. La DO fue determinada a partir de información provista por el gobierno municipal. Resultados. En las mujeres, una mayor DO y DP se asociaron significativamente con la compra de bebidas en esos negocios, consumo de alcohol, consecuencias negativas de este consumo y dinero gastado dentro del área de residencia. En los varones, la DP se asoció con la frecuencia mensual de consumo mientras que la DO y la DP se asociaron con la compra de bebidas en esos locales. Conclusiones. Los resultados, de utilidad para el planeamiento de intervenciones de reducción del consumo, indican una sensibilidad diferencial de hombres y mujeres a variables contextuales y cognitivas que regulan el consumo de alcohol.
