Alcohol and violence / Alcohol y violencia

Abstract

Desde hace tiempo se ha venido estableciendo una relación entre el consumo de bebidas alcohólicas y la violencia, sin embargo no ha existido un acuerdo unánime en cuanto a las causa y a su justificación.

El presente trabajo pretende hacer una revisión de todas las teorí­as que han soportado esta relación incluidos los mecanismos neurobiológicos, así­ como de diversos estudios que señal la importancia del consumo de alcohol con la violencia, de género, entre menores, de pareja o con los ancianos. Al mismo tiempo aportamos la visión que se tiene sobre el tema entre los grupos de autoayuda de FARE en España, y los resultados y actuación de un grupo policial de la ciudad de Valencia especí­fico para malos tratos y en donde se analiza el consumo de sustancias.

Terminamos el artí­culo con una serie de protocolos dirigidos a disminuir la incidencia del problema, así­ como una serie de propuestas que incluyen medidas legales, rehabilitadoras y sociales como posible solución.

 

Abstract

Long has been establishing a relationship between alcohol and violence, however there has been no unanimous agreement as to the cause and justification.

This paper aims to review all the theories that have supported this relationship including the neurobiological mechanisms, as well as several studies indicating the importance of alcohol to violence, gender violence, among youths, couple or with the elderly.

At the same time bring the vision that has on the issue among FARE self-help groups in Spain, and the results and performance of a specific to abuse police group in the city of Valencia and where we analyze the substances consumption.

We ended the article with several protocols aimed to reduce the incidence of problem and a different proposals that include legal, social and rehabilitative solutions.
