Risk perception linked to alcohol, tobacco and other substances use / Percepção do risco associado ao consumo de álcool, tabaco e drogas

Resumen

The purpose of this study was to know the attitudes and opinions
on the consumption of alcohol, tobacco and drugs, in students of the
secondary education of the city of Bragança, aged between twelve and fifteen years. The Individuals who formed the sample attended the seventh, eighth and ninth years of schooling in a total of 62 pupils of both genders. The results showed that for consumption of alcohol, tobacco and drugs 6.25% of the respondents regularly consume alcohol, 12.5% smoke habitually and 8.33% consume drugs.
Through the procedures carried out we conclude that the ‘no consumers’ are the ones who had present a bigger perception of the risk associated with the consumption of these substances. We can also verify that the experimentation of the substances is initiated each time more precociously.
One of the possible causes of these results could be the lack of information about the consequences of consumption of these substances, or the vulnerability of the adolescents in yielding to the experimentation of the same ones.

Absctract

Consumo de álcool, tabaco e drogas, em estudantes do ensino secundário da cidade de Bragança, com idades compreendidas entre os doze e os quinze anos. Os indivíduos que constituíram a amostra frequentavam o sétimo, oitavo e nono ano de escolaridade, num total de 62 alunos de ambos os géneros. Os resultados demonstraram que relativamente ao consumo de álcool, tabaco e drogas 6,25% dos inquiridos consomem regularmente bebidas alcoólicas, 12,5% fumam habitualmente e 8,33% consomem drogas.
Através dos procedimentos efectuados concluímos que são os não consumidores que apresentam uma maior percepção do risco associado ao consumo de substâncias. Podemos ainda verificar que a experimentação dessas substâncias é iniciada cada vez mais precocemente. Uma das possíveis causas destes resultados poderá ser a falta de informação acerca das consequências do consumo destas substâncias, ou a vulnerabilidade dos adolescentes em cederem à experimentação das mesmas.
