Los hombres que tienen sexo con hombres (HSH) representan un grupo clave de mayor afectación en la transmisión del virus de inmunodeficiencia humana, la principal forma de prevención es mediante la conducta sexual segura, sin embargo existen factores que pueden incidir negativamente como puede ser la imagen corporal y la búsqueda de sensaciones sexuales. Objetivo. Determinar la influencia de la imagen corporal y la búsqueda de sensaciones sexuales en la conducta sexual segura en HSH. Metodología. Se realizó un estudio transversal-correlacional, con una muestra de 257 HSH de una ciudad en el noreste de México. Se usó el Muestreo Dirigido por Entrevistados. Para las mediciones se utilizaron tres escalas y un cuestionario ad hoc. Resultados. El modelo de regresión lineal univariado muestra que la búsqueda de sensaciones sexuales influye negativamente en la conducta sexual segura, no siendo así la imagen corporal. Conclusión. Estudios similares podrían concretar la consideración de la búsqueda de sensaciones sexuales en programas para fomentar sexo seguro en esta población.
