Soledad y Phubbing en universitarios peruanos: El rol mediador del Fear of Missing Out

Resumen

Introducción: El objetivo principal de la presente investigación fue determinar el efecto de la soledad sobre el Phubbing, cuando el Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) media esta relación. Método: El diseño es explicativo de variables latentes, se han aplicado tres escalas (Escala de Soledad, Escala de Fear of Missing Out, y Escala de Phubbing) a una muestra de 405 universitarios procedentes de dos universidades privadas de Lima Metropolitana. Resultados: Se encontró que existe un efecto indirecto, estadísticamente significativo, de la soledad sobre el Phubbing, a través del FoMO. Asimismo, el efecto total del modelo resultó estadísticamente significativo. También, que la variable independiente (la soledad) explica significativamente el FoMO y la variable mediadora (el FoMO) predice el Phubbing. Conclusiones: La soledad tiene un efecto indirecto sobre el Phubbing a través del FoMO, esto implica que la soledad directamente no predice el Phubbing, pero cuando la persona experimenta miedo a sentirse excluido, esto si resulta relevante para determinar el Phubbing.
